I love hearing results. I love hearing about results. Why don’t you tell me one or two success stories that people that you’ve basically helped them change their lives?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Jill:&lt;/b&gt; When I teach 8 week weight loss classes, which I do in my local community, I continue to monitor people after they’ve completed the class and the time they started the class to completed the class and we did this with measuring tapes and weighing and then I continue to track them for two years after taking the classes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Kevin:&lt;/b&gt; Two years? Wow!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Jill:&lt;/b&gt; Two years. Yes, because beyond two years people moved and it was hard to get hold of them and then they didn’t want to come in and we had 92% success rate, which is exciting, which is how I knew I needed to put the information into a book, because so many other people could benefit from this information. When I speak in settings with large audiences the funny thing is to me that I’m up there talking to them about how they can improve their health and lose weight and feel better and have more energy and usually about one or two just really intensely take the information to heart and I will get an e-mail a month later that will say I’m 56 years old -- I just got this two days ago - - 56 years old and never thought I could lose weight and gave away all of my smaller sized clothes and now lost 25 pounds and I have more energy than I ever had. Everyone’s asking how I did it and it was all because I added breakfast. It was all because I added more fruits and vegetables and had a smoothie and a salad a day. All because and they took away one or two nuggets of what we were talking about where they were weak in their Wellness Triangle and improved it to reach their ultimate goals. They’d given up. They thought they couldn’t do it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In my local community I had a guy that when through my weight loss class and then he took it again and he took it a third time. He lost 115 pounds and just e-mailed me probably a month ago and said that he’s maintained 105 but the other 10 came back on and he’s going to get that 10 back off again and the interesting thing is he’s within about 10 pounds of his ideal body weight. He was planning to go through gastric bypass. I talked him out of it, because he loves food. He loves to eat as much as I do and I said if you love to eat, you’re really going to be giving up that choice. You’re going to be so limited in the amount and the types of things you can eat that it won’t be an enjoyable lifestyle for you. He agreed. He loves to go out and barbeque. He just has a little bit less of the fattier foods and he really went to town on the vegetables.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Kevin:&lt;/b&gt; Okay.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Jill:&lt;/b&gt; Exercises everyday and has tons of energy and he is definitely a role model that I keep coming back to him and saying how did you do that again? What are you doing?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Kevin:&lt;/b&gt; Yeah.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Jill:&lt;/b&gt; Tell me how you did that again? What was the piece of information that stuck out for you? But the interesting thing is that it’s different for every person.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Kevin:&lt;/b&gt; Yeah.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Jill:&lt;/b&gt; So what Dennis had to do versus what I had to do versus what someone else who wants to lose weight has to do, you can take all the information and see which is going to most affect your life in the positive direction.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Kevin:&lt;/b&gt; And how did you measure the 92% success rate? What were the criteria?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Jill:&lt;/b&gt; They could not gain more than 2 pounds back of what their final weight was.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Kevin:&lt;/b&gt; Wow.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Jill:&lt;/b&gt; The majority of people went on to lose even more weight, because they only had them, well we did an 8 week class with a one month follow up, so we only had these people for three months, but the changes that they made in three months were changes that they’ve kept for a life time. They said they could never go back to their old way of eating because they had too much information one and number two, they felt too good.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Kevin:&lt;/b&gt; Wow&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Jill:&lt;/b&gt; And that’s the big thing. It’s not just about looking great in your skinny jeans. It’s about the energy that you have. You don’t need to fill your body with caffeine and chemicals to stay awake and alert. You can do it naturally.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Kevin:&lt;/b&gt; Yeah. In a world where the studies say that 98% of people who lose weight gain it back a 92% success rate is just absolutely incredible.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Jill:&lt;/b&gt; I think the big part of the success we had with our classes was that I was able to individualize and help people see how they could fit their lives into the plan. Not just switch from their life to the plan, but incorporate little things from the thin choices routine into what they were already doing. If they weren’t eating breakfast that was an easy one and I didn’t give everything all at once. I said lets work on breakfast and water today. Those are the only things that you’re going to work on this week and then come back and we’ll see how that feels and then start adding something else. So I think I think that’s the big part. Looking at the person and seeing where is the stress in their life and if they’re a stress eater, they’re eating for reasons other than true hunger. You’ve got to help that person realize what they can do to get the stress either out of their life or to help relieve it. Maybe they just need to do some meditation or take a yoga class. Their stress comes back under control and they’re better able to make choices in the other areas of their life.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Kevin:&lt;/b&gt; And it’s probably not just about -- I don’t actually know this. It’s not about what kind of stress or what they’re doing. It’s just about them recognizing it. Correct?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Jill:&lt;/b&gt; Yes. Yes and if you’re turning to food, because you’re depressed maybe we need to look at the depression. What is the reason? Is it you’re living in Wisconsin and you don’t have enough sunshine in the winter? Maybe you need a sun lamp as opposed to turning to the food. I went through that about two years ago. We had 25 days without sun and I was just depressed and I was just craving chocolate and I thought what is wrong with me. I gained about 7 pounds and I just couldn’t get out of it. Well, I realized that it was a lack of sun, so I went on a vacation. As soon as we got about the clouds in Minneapolis and the sun was shining in, I was just drawn to the window and I realized that sunshine is a big part of my health, so I needed it. So I regularly schedule vacations in the middle of winter to get out of out of the cold and that helps to keep my stress level down, because I turned to food when I was feeling depressed.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Kevin:&lt;/b&gt; It’s amazing how the health clues kind of unveil themselves as you continue on.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Jill:&lt;/b&gt; Yeah and it was so interesting to me that no one else was impacted by this lack of sun in my house. I was the only one, so I just thought that I was crazy. I thought do I need drugs? What do I need? Do I need more chocolate? All I could think was that I needed chocolate, because I couldn’t think clearly.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Kevin:&lt;/b&gt; Right.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Jill:&lt;/b&gt; But it’s amazing, that sun. I thought, okay. That’s what I needed and I’m learning and you learn more about yourself everyday I think. You just have to be open to it and listen to what your body’s telling you.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Kevin:&lt;/b&gt; Yeah. That’s incredible advice. Why don’t you --&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Jill:&lt;/b&gt; It could just have been the vitamin D that I needed, but I’d rather lie on a beach and think about it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Kevin:&lt;/b&gt; Yeah. Then lie down and rub small circles around your belly button with 1 hand. Do this for about 30-45 seconds each time.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I do this for 2-4 minutes each day.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Why this works?&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Belly rubs work because the heat from your hand penetrates through your skin and into the fat cells. The fat cells either disintegrate or loosen up and get flushed out of your body. That is a fear that many have to face because when a medication is needed, that particular side effect cannot be removed from the drug. Some people do not even know that weight gain is a symptom when they are prescribed a drug, but they do realize when they notice they are gaining weight without any other explanation.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Some of the drugs that are responsible for weight gain are drugs for depression, anti-seizure medication, medications for diabetes, hypertension, and migraines. Birth control, hormones, and steroids are also well-known for causing weight gain in patients.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What drugs cause weight gain?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There is no exact list that names the drugs that cause weight gain. A drug may cause weight gain in one person but not cause it in the next. That means there may be certain physiological elements in play. However, there are approximately 50 medications that are suggested to cause weight gain in those who take them. When a person is depressed and they begin to feel better, they may find that they eat more. To make things more confusing, heartburn treatments have been known to help people lose weight, but people have also been known to gain weight. This weight gain could be associated with eating more because of an improvement in the condition.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There could also be underlying health issues that, in addition to the drug, cause weight gain to occur. There have been plenty of people who have seen a pattern in beginning a drug and weight gain. They may not have changed their eating habits and all, but noticed some water retention. Steroids are certainly a culprit in this because the person appears to have swelled up.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are also patients who were not taking a drug for a long period of time. The treatment was a short-term treatment that caused weight gain, but when the treatment was over they found themselves returning to their regular weight. These are instances in which it is quite obvious that a drug has caused weight gain.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What to do&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Although nothing can be done about the effect that the drug has on the body to gain weight, the patient can take matters into their own hands to an extent. They can watch how they eat, exercise regularly if possible, and drink plenty of liquids. This can actually offset some of the effects of the drug on weight. It may seem like a battle that never ends, but when a drug is needed to control a particular health issue, there really isn’t much that can be done about it. Sometimes there are alternatives to a drug that the doctor can prescribe, but that option is not always available. However, it doesn’t hurt to ask.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But what one must remember is that gaining a little extra weight might be minimal compared to the benefits that the drug provides. Even the professional advice I sought did not seem convincing and did not produce results.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;So I went on a quest for answers, and that's the main reason I specialized in those fields, until I found the answers for permanent weight loss, permanent weight control and breaking beyond all plateaux without dieting and while enjoying a great emotional, physical and balanced lifestyle. I have included the results of my long quest in my book titled " Lifestyle Makeover for Diabetics" in Action Step 4 which takes up half of my book. From Action Step 4 till the end of the book the information provided applies to all people and not just diabetics. But I have specifically addressed the issue of overcoming plateaux on Pages 232, 233 and 234 In Action Step 4 of my book.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;There are several factors that contribute to this problem:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;1) With this first scenario I address those who are uninformed or misinformed.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;When people go on a "diet", skip meals or take OTC or RX Diet pills they lose weight due water loss, some fat but a good chunk of precious muscle mass. They feel good for losing that weight the first month or so but what they are doing is setting themselves up for a vicious trap. When they lose this precious muscle, which weighs more than fat, they cause a drop in the Basic Metabolic Rate (BMR). The body burns lots of energy to keep muscle cells alive. When a good chunk of muscle is lost for good than the body burns less energy and stores the balance as fat. So that's a main reason why people stop losing.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Moreover, most "dieters" want to lose weight by food restrictions without increasing their level of activity (I don't use the word exercise). We CAN NEVER maintain any weight lost without activity. More Often than not people overestimate their level of daily activity. One more reason people feel that they stopped losing.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;One has also to look at the quality and quantity of food consumed. People way underestimate the density of food consumed because they are mis or uninformed. People don't have a clue about making balanced food choices, about the importance of incorporating 30 to 35 grams of fiber daily which includes a wealth of benefits on weight loss and health in general, don't read food labels and expect to lose weight. " Oh I just had a small piece of lemon cake"! Well have they read the nutrition label of "that small piece of Cake" they would have realized that it included a total of 400 calories, some 50 grams of sugar and 25 grams of fat. I challenge all readers of this article to read the Nutrition Labels of some of these cookies, muffins, cakes, chips and see how heart and artery blowing they can be. If people are not reading Nutrition Labels of the food they eat (which is the overwhelming majority of our population) then they will not only gain weight but their lives are in real and imminent danger.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The second scenario is when people are informed and have been trying to lose weight by making favorable food and activity choices. After 2 or 3 months into their quest and periodically thereafter they might hit a plateau.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;A great plateau buster is to include a variety to the activity they are doing. After a while our brains track our patterns and in order to find balance, technically known as "Homeostasis", the brain adapts the energy burnt just enough to accommodate the energy demand from the activity performed. Consequently, we can enter into a plateau. So increasing the intensity or duration of the activity is not always the answer because we to take into consideration our limited time.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The answer is "variety" of activity. Through out the day we need to aim at walking about 12 to 15 thousand steps gauged by a pedometer (cheaply bought at discount stores, pharmacies and fitness institutions for $7 to 10). Three times a week people need to schedule a sustained bout of a "Variety" of activity for 30 to 45 minutes. One day do walking, the next do cycling on bicycle or a stationary one, the following time walking including hilly terrain, next swimming, the following time walk on a treadmill. Use brisk pace which is faster than normal pace. Do not forget wearing rubber walking padded shoes to avoid overuse injury.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;During those bouts a crucial and simple factor can be added for beginners and advanced alike which is to use "Interval Cycle Training" which is Bouts of varying bouts of fast and slower movement. All these variety factors keep the brain confused and not adapt to a specific routine. Hence continued results. More details are found in the Activity section in Action Step 4 of "Lifestyle Makeover for Diabetics"&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Here is also a quick plateau buster checklist:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;-" Am I eating enough fiber?"&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;-"Have I been skipping meals or snacks?"&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;- "What have I been eating for snacks?"&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;-" Have my portion sizes gradually become bigger?"&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;- "Have I gone back to drinking soft drinks?"&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;- "Have I been accounting for all sugary or salty snacks and beverages consumed daily?"&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;A more extensive checklist and all these issues are covered much more extensively in simple format in my book mentioned below.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;My Credentials:&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;George F Tohme, Pharmacist, graduated from The University of Pittsburgh, Pa in 1987 and currently practicing in Texas. Or you're munching from a big bag of chips while checking emails, and when you look up, the bag is empty. Sound familiar? &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial" xalan="http://xml.apache.org/xalan"&gt;Environmental factors -- like package size, portion size, the variety of food you're served, and the size of your plate -- can influence your eating more than you realize, experts say. Indeed, if we always ate only when we were really hungry and stopped when we were full, there would be no obesity epidemic.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p face="arial"&gt;The key, experts say, is to become more aware of these overeating triggers, which can help you resist the temptations and avoid weight gain. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;"Once you become aware of the environmental cues that can sabotage your diet, you can react accordingly and make smart decisions," says Susan Moores, RD, a spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;Simple things such as bringing tempting snacks into your house, moving the candy jar at work out of sight, making fruits and vegetables more visible in your refrigerator, and eating more deliberately and slowly, can cut down on overeating and help you lose weight, Moores says.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;Here are eight factors that can trigger overeating and weight gain:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h3 style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;1. Sights, Sounds, and Smells&lt;/h3&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;Overeating can be triggered by the alluring smell of bacon cooking, the sound of popcorn popping, advertisements for junk food, and so on. "You are influenced by your surroundings, and our studies show these kinds of cues result in eating more food," says Cornell University researcher Brian Wansink, PhD, author of &lt;i&gt;Mindful Eating&lt;/i&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h3 style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;2. Distracted Eating&lt;/h3&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;"Eating amnesia" is the act of unknowingly putting hand to mouth, usually from a big bag or bowl while sitting in front of the television, reading a book, checking emails, or during happy hour. Multi-tasking can lead to overeating because you're not paying attention to what you are eating. When you eat more mindfully, you really taste the food -- and are more likely to feel satisfied sooner. "Food should touch more of your senses to be satisfying, instead of just filling in the hole," Moores says.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h3 style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;3. Food, Food Everywhere&lt;/h3&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;Everywhere you turn, there are opportunities to eat -- at drive-through restaurants, vending machines, even gas stations. And when food is in front of us, we tend to eat more of it, experts say.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;Wansink and colleagues found that when candy was easily accessible on workers' desks, they ate an average of nine pieces a day, and didn't realize how many they ate. But when the candy was kept in their desk drawers, they ate about six pieces per day. And when they had to get up from their desks to reach the candy six feet away, they only ate four pieces.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;Curb your instinct to overeat sweets and snacks by moving them out of sight -- and putting more healthful foods into plain view. Resist the urge to splurge on unhealthy foods by carrying your own healthy snacks.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;h3 style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;4. Food that's Fast, Convenient, and Inexpensive&lt;/h3&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;Fast-food restaurants on every corner offering inexpensive food also encourage us to eat more and more often. Combo meal deals sound like a bargain, but they are loaded with fat, sodium, and calories.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;Also, "when you eat lots of fast food, it all starts to taste the same, and you can become satisfied with a small range of flavors and sometimes it is hard to get enough," says Moores.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;To help yourself resist the temptation, work on developing a taste for the subtle, natural flavors of food, suggests Moores.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;Dietitians recommend limiting visits to fast-food restaurants to once a week. And, they say, choose the healthier menu options -- like salads and grilled chicken sandwiches -- even if they cost a little more.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h3 style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;5. Portion Distortion&lt;/h3&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;Our idea of a normal portion has become skewed, in part because so many restaurants serve oversized portions. "Giant portions seem to have evolved into the norm, and many people have trouble understand how much they should eat," Moores says.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;To understand what a portion should look lie, pull out the measuring cups and see how your portions stack up against the standards from the U.S. government's mypyramid.com web site.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;Another answer to the portion dilemma is to eat more foods that are less calorically dense. These are foods that contain lots of water and fiber, but not many calories -- like fruits, vegetables, and broth-based soups. Researcher Barbara Rolls, PhD, and colleagues at Penn State University found that it's possible to reduce calories without increasing hunger by eating more of these types of foods.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;Mindful eating can help here, too. "Eat slowly, taste the food and become more in touch with what you are eating and how it tastes so you can enjoy it more and start to appreciate satisfaction with smaller portions," Moores says.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h3 style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;6. Giant-Size Packages&lt;/h3&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;You'll find plenty of bargains on mega-sized packages at super-discount stores like Costco or Sam's. But unfortunately, experts say, these giant containers can affect us on an unconscious level and cause us to eat more. Researchers have found that when you eat from a large container, you are likely to consume 25% to 50% more than you would from a smaller package -- especially when you're eating snacks and sweets.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;"First, try to get out of the habit of always eating something while you are sitting, relaxing, or watching television," says Tara Gidus, MS, RD. "Try a cup of tea, glass of water, or chew a piece of sugarless gum. If you want a snack, portion it out of the bag or container or buy smaller packages like the 100-calorie snack packs."&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h3 style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;7. Not-So-Dainty Dishware&lt;/h3&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;Researchers have found that we tend to eat more when we're served from larger containers. Wansink and colleagues found that when students were given food in larger bowls, they served themselves 53% more and consumed 56% more than those who used smaller bowls.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;When you use smaller bowls, plates, and cups, you won't feel deprived because the food will look plentiful, Wansink says. Daintier dishware and smaller utensils can also help slow your eating.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;h3 style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;8. Too Much Variety&lt;/h3&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;A buffet restaurant can be a dieter's nightmare. Too many choices encourages having a taste (or more) of everything, and before you know it, your plate runneth over. "Too much variety on your plate at one meal can often mean too much food overall," says Connie Diekman, MEd, RD, director of&lt;span style="TEXT-DECORATION: underline"&gt;&lt;/span&gt; nutrition at Washington University and president of the American Dietetic Association.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="FONT-FAMILY: arial"&gt;So use variety to help meet your nutritional needs, but concentrate on the right foods. Our air        passages and our digestive tract are really external to        our bodies, making us subject to whatever elements may        be present. The consistency and thickness of this        coating varies according to the challenge. In normal        times, the mucous remains as a thin protective barrier.&lt;/span&gt;        &lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;      In times of distress, such as with a head cold or with        the ingestion of irritating foods, additional mucous        will be formed as an additional barrier between the body        and the irritating substance and also as a vehicle to        flush out the irritant from the body. We are aware of        this action with a head cold and a productive cough. We        may be less aware of this action in our digestive tract.&lt;/span&gt; &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" align="left"&gt;Swallowed mucus from an abnormal sinus discharge        presents a challenge to the digestive tract. The stomach        and intestines have a protective layer of mucous which        is a barrier against our own digestive juices.        Quantities of mucous in our digestive system are dealt        with by increasing acid production in an attempt to        remove it by digestion. This causes the litany of        heartburn, acid reflux, and esophageal corrosion.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;  Chronic conditions can leave a perpetual build up of        mucous which clogs our system, contributing to our        depressed health. If        the juice fasting is for health purposes, it makes sense to        support your body's needs while you reduce or remove        some necessary elements from your diet.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;     &lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;       The basic elements that we need to remove from our diet        for the sake of our health are cooked food and animal        products. This includes the denatured packaged products        such as white flour, refined sugar etc. and all animal        products such as red meat, poultry, fish and eggs. The        only animal product that is usually allowed is a little        honey for sweetening purposes. The best single method to        accomplish these ends is to juice fast.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;In order to do this properly, you will need a juicer        which is a machine specifically made for this purpose,        It is nor a mixer or a blender. It is not a citrus        juicer. it is a device that is made to deliver vegetable        juice out of a spout while the fiber is deposited        another way.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;h2 style="font-family: arial;" align="left"&gt;Juice fasting for weight loss&lt;/h2&gt;       &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" align="left"&gt;Some people may enter a juice fast as a way to address        some disease condition. Others may use a fast in order        to detoxify their body or to lose weight. For whatever        reason you may chose to juice fast, one dramatic element        is the immediate and dramatic loss of stored body fat.        This has multiple health benefits.&lt;br /&gt;    &lt;br /&gt;     Much of the toxins stored in our body are in our body        fat. Metabolizing the fat forces the toxins into the        blood stream where the body processes them to be        eliminated. This elimination is not entirely done        through the alimentary canal and the urinary tract. A        major organ of elimination is the lungs. We will breathe        out some toxins in our breath.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h2 style="font-family: arial;" align="left"&gt;Toxins in the body&lt;/h2&gt;       &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" align="left"&gt;Another major organ of elimination is the skin. We will        not only exude toxins from the surface of our skin,        causing people to bathe frequently every day, but the        skin may erupt in boils as the toxins, especially petro-chemicals        accumulate in boils.&lt;br /&gt;    &lt;br /&gt;     As we realize the great load of poisons we have carried        by the amount of toxins that are being discharged, we        can wonder how we survived at all. One lady of my        acquaintance was so severely involved by the heavy        discharge of chemotherapy chemicals from her skin that        she constantly showered. Also, her breath was foul and        her mouth had a chronic horrible taste.&lt;br /&gt;    &lt;br /&gt;     This was all accomplished by juice fasting.&lt;br /&gt;    &lt;br /&gt;     On the other hand, I also know a man who was only        slightly affected by the discharge of toxins from his        body, as he lost a pound a day for 28 days.&lt;br /&gt;    &lt;br /&gt;     It all depends upon what is the challenge to your body        to detoxify and how your body, in its own wisdom,        'decides' to lose the stored poisons.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h2 style="font-family: arial;" align="left"&gt;How long to stay on a juice fast&lt;/h2&gt;       &lt;p style="font-family: arial;" align="left"&gt;The 'rule of thumb' is to stay on the juice fast until        you have been free of detoxification symptoms for two        days. These symptoms can be rather severe, making one to        believe that 'the cure is worse than the disease.'        However, this is certainly not true in the long run.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="font-family: arial;" align="left"&gt;It is possible, during an extended fast, that a person        may have more than healing crisis. You know that you are        succeeding when you have a healing crisis. In cases of        severe illness, some practitioners provide a juice        fasting program for, perhaps, three days a week and the        rest of the time the patient eats normally of selected        fresh fruits and vegetables.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h2 style="font-family: arial;" align="left"&gt;Meat in the diet&lt;/h2&gt;       &lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;Meats are not a part of a recovering patient's diet,        especially during the critical detoxification period.        After that, some practitioners allow the patient to have        small amounts of animal protein sources such as two        ounces of white fish or an egg a week. Other        practitioners do not allow their patients to eat any        animal products during their recovery or sustaining        periods.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;     &lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;       The prohibited foods include all animal flesh of any        kind, including fish, poultry, eggs and dairy products.        The only exception for some is the inclusion of a        tablespoon of honey once a day for sweetening.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;     &lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;       A strict juice fast is necessary until a good recovery        is established. This may take from several days to three        weeks or more. Almost always, there is immediate        evidence of the success of the fast.
